Scott Matzka - The Matchka

Over 2000 people turned out at Ice Arena Wales for a game between the World Record Holding 2010/11 Devils team and the current squad of players to raise money for the Matzka family.

Fans cheered for players past and present including the likes of Jon Pelle, Stuart MacRae and club legend Brad Voth, the night though belonged to one man, Scott Matzka.

Scott was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in the US, in September 2015.

The father of two was represented in the team by his four-year-old son Owen who scored the opening goal and the winning goal in the penalty shootout.

Prior to the game, Scott and his wife Catie gave emotional speeches and thanked organisers, Scott's former teammates and the fans who turned up to support the family.
